Did you know basking sharks eat plankton?

What shark facts do you know?

We have also started making models of basking and hammer head sharks. Here are some photos of us using our team work skills to paper maiche our junk models.

Meet the Author - Elys Dolan

Yesterday we went to Dulwich picture Galley to hear Elys Dolan read her new book Steven Seagull Action Hero. We loved listening to her story about one seagull cop's mission to clean up Beach City. She drew some illustrations live infront of us and even taught us how to draw Steven Seagull. We asked lots of questions and she signed our class copy of Steven Seagull Action Hero.

What question did you ask Elys?

London Underground Map

Did you know the current London underground tube map was first designed by Henry Beck in 1931?
The current London tube map

We looked at the current tube map when we
visited Brixton underground station.

It shows the relative positions of all the underground stations

In Year 1 this week we had a go at designing our own London Underground Maps.
After we had designed our own maps we thought of questions that
we still had about the London underground.

What do you think of this child's map design?

Brixton Station

Yesterday as part of our topic on what is beneath our feet we visited Brixton tube station. We learnt all about the London tube system that runs beneath our feet. It was great to interview Dave who works at the station and asked him all about the London underground.

 What question did you ask?

What was the answer?

Making bread at Tesco.

Tell me about making bread.

Today we went on a trip to Tesco and made our own bread. We became bread experts by taste testing brown and white bread to see if we could tell the difference. After that we explored the shop floor finding other products made from flour.

What can you tell me about making bread?
