Eating green.

 Growing vegetables

Over the last couple of weeks we have been growing cabbages from seeds in our garden.

Our cabbages had finally grown this week and we pulled them out the ground. Our chef in the kitchen then cooked the three cabbages for lunch.

Our cabbage tasted fantastic!

What did you think?
What would you like us to grow next?

Growing our Garden

After clearing our garden we are finally ready to plant!

Today we each planted sweetcorn and peas.

Outside we planted radishes, rocket, chard and other salad leaves.

What plant do you think will grow first?

What do our plants need to grow?

Garden Center Trip

To start our learning on our topic Rainforest Plants we visited Croxted Road Garden Center in Herne Hill on Wednesday. We looked at all the different seed that they sold and then used our seed shopping lists to select which we should buy to grow in our Year 1 raised bed garden.

What seeds did you choose for our garden?

Why did you choose them?

Week 4 - Loughborough Park

This week we ran laps of Loughborough Park, right opposite our school!

Each lap was nearly 1/2km. So if you ran 10 laps you nearly ran 5km!

How many laps did you run?
How has your running improved over the last 4 weeks?

Watch out year 1 are running

In PE this half term we are working on getting better at running. Each week we're going to go running in a different bit of Brixton. Today we went running in Brockwell park.

One Year 1 said, "We ran around the big old tree. We have even been racing up and down the hill. We ran as fast as we could."

How far do you think we ran today?

Welcome to the Year 1 blog

We are all really excited to have our year group blog up and running. All the Year 1 team, Miss Binnie, Miss Nicholls, Miss Deere, Miss Powell and Miss Perkins, are really looking forward to reading your comments and sharing all our ideas and work online.

We have had a fabulous first few weeks in Year 1 and have settled into our new classrooms. Here are some photos of us exploring our new classrooms and outdoor area.
